Mrs. Barbara Ann Newberry Gibson, age 82, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, June 9, 2026, at the home of her son in Murray County, Georgia. She was born July 4, 1943 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Hayden Lewis and Dorothy Louise Newberry. She was also preceded in death by her husband Virgil Lee Gibson, children Terry Gibson, Wendell Gibson.

She is survived by her children, Tammy and Bruce Cockburn of Dalton, GA, Tonya and Lyndy Bryant of Marathon, FL, Greg and Crystal McPherson of Chatsworth, GA, Edward and JoAnn Gibson of Dalton, GA, Deborah Mulkey, Cathy Gibson Lynn of Chatsworth, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Easter Newberry of Dalton, GA; very special sister, Wanda Borror of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Toni Leigh and Justin Singleton, Ashley McPherson, Hope and Rick Carroll, Haylee and Jacob Vaughn, Amy Coleman, Melissa Ogle, Elizabeth Myrup; several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Barbara Ann Newberry Gibson will be held Saturday June 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Tim Sanford officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Betlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
