Mrs. Barbara Lee Frankenberger, age 78, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at The Lighthouse under hospice care. Barbara was born January 31, 1938 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was raised in Norfolk, Virginia, a daughter of the late John Edward and Mamie Juanita Davis Burns. She was a graduate of Grandby High School in Norfolk, Virginia, attended Dalton State College. She was retired from Shaw Industries.
Barbara was a very reserved and private person. She enjoyed working and spending time with her animals, especially her German Shepard, Thor. She was an accomplished scuba diver. The true love of her life was her family. The family would like to say a special "thanks" to all of Barbara's caregivers over the past several years.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Cromwell Frankenberger and her sister, Anne Lassiter.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michel and Kendall Marshall of Dalton, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Michele Frankenberger of Rocky Face, GA, Mark and Phylica Frankenberger of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Zachary Marshall, Sean Marshall, Connor Marshall, Easton Frankenberger, Rachel Frankenberger and Blake Frankenberger; nephew and niece, Jim Lassiter and Brooke DeBargo both of Norfolk, VA.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Barbara Lee Frankenberger will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Lonnie Starnes officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at West Hill Cemetery with her family and close friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 2:00 p.m. Saturday until the service hour.
