Mrs. Barbara Jane Hood Buchanan, age 92, of Kingston, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living.

Barbara was born January 27, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, and was the beloved daughter of the late George Kennedy Hood and Ava Elizabeth Paschal Hood. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life and beloved husband, William Wray Buchanan Sr. and her grand-son Stephen Harris.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She loved her family more than life itself and cherished every moment she spent with them. She was a member of The Citadel and devoted her life to serving others through her faith. Throughout her life, Barbara taught Sunday School, led Bible studies and prayer groups, and shared her love of God with those around her. She had a special love for children and enjoyed teaching preschool.

Barbara is survived by her son, Russell Wray Buchanan and Anne Buchanan of Bradenton, Florida; her daughter, Debbie and Ron Harris of Kingston, Georgia; and her beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Reid, John, Laura, David Buchanan, Sarah Martin, and Emily Millsaps. She was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and adored beyond measure.

A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from Ponders Calhoun Chapel. Visitation will be held the same day from 12:00 PM until the service hour.

Barbara will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville, Georgia.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, family, and service. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
