Obituary

Avery Cole, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his home. He was born November 20, 1931 in Harlan, KY, ason of the late Leander and Lizzy Collins Cole. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Cole, brothers, Malon, Bill, and Lowell Cole, sisters, Agnes Carroll, Neila Stewart, Geneva Wattenburger.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Cochran of Dalton, GA, Lawanna Willie of Thomson, GA, Lisa Ellenburg of Illinois, Susie Ellenburg of Wisconsin, Jennifer Ellenburg of Illinois, Chrissie Ellenburg of Wisconsin; son, Steve Ellenburg of Illinois; sisters, Henreitta and Paul Phipps, Lorine Lane of Kentucky; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Avery Cole will be held Thursday January 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Chris Ross officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Cody Stone, Brady Walters, Teddy Walters, Justin Vannoy, Chris Cochran, Jeremy Cooper and Rick "Red" will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
