Miss Ashley Elizabeth Santiago Barrera, age 13, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Erlanger Children's Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, surrounded by her loving family.

Ashley was born on October 9, 2011, in Dalton, Georgia.

Ashley was a seventh grade student at Hammond Creek Middle School and a member of La Senda Antigua Church. Although she faced many challenges in life due to mental and physical disabilities, Ashley embraced each day with a joyful heart. She loved her family deeply and brought light and inspiration to those around her. Her proud Puerto Rican heritage was a source of great identity and strength, and her family was truly blessed to share 13 beautiful years with her.

She is survived by her devoted parents, Jesus Santiago and Raquel Barrera; her sisters, Nicole Santiago Barrera, Genesis Santiago Barrera, and Marjorie Santiago Barrera; her brother, Jeremy Daniel Santiago Barrera; grandparents, Sara Gonzalez and Jose Barrera and Antonia Santiago, all of Dalton, GA; as well as several aunts, uncles, and many cousins who cherished her deeply.

Services to celebrate the life of Miss Ashley Elizabeth Santiago Barrera will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Jose Menjivar officiating. She will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, with her family and close friends honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the service hour.
