Mr. Arvil William "Bill" Wilson, age 79, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Monday, January 31, 2022, at his residence.  Bill was born April 18, 1942, in Gilmer County, Georgia, a son of the late Christopher Columbus Wilson and Anna Wheeler Wilson Withrow.  He was also preceded death by his first wife, Anita Marie Goodson Wilson, his stepfather, Jess Withrow, brothers, James "Bud" Wilson, Jack Wilson, Willard Wilson and sisters, Helen Starks and Bennie Lea Porter.

Bill was retired from Dalton City Schools and was a member and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Sugar Valley, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife Jean Hooker Grooms of the residence; daughters and son-in-law, Shelia and Daniel Johnson of Resaca, GA, Linda Lavonne and Tommy Land of Resaca, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Tonia Wilson of Resaca, GA, Russell and Caroline Wilson of Ranger, GA; brother, Willie Wilson of Chatsworth, GA; sister-in-law, Linda Wilson of Resaca, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Wayne Bartley, Arzella Baggett all of Chatsworth, GA; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Arvil William "Bill" Wilson will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Pastor Donnie Matilla and Reverend Delmar Davenport officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his first wife at Concord Methodist Cemetery in Villanow, Georgia, with Randall Talley, Kevin Talley, Roy Chambers, Mark Watson, David Peeler, and Stacy Callahan honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
