Mr. Arnold Lee Caylor, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Light House Southern Haven Assisted Living.
Arnold was born June 2, 1936, in Fannin County, (Fry) Georgia, a son of the late Edgar Cecil and Rosie Payne Caylor, Sr. He was also preceded in death by siblings Edgar Cecil Caylor, Jr., Rose Ann Caylor and Gene Caylor; a nephew, Sammy Foster, and his father-in-law, Sam Jones and mother-in-law, Lucille Jones Martin.
Arnold was a 1953 graduate of Dawnville High School, a Certified Public Accountant and was a 50-plus year member of Dalton Masonic Lodge #105 and Salem Baptist Church.
His family said he was the best husband and father, loved his family unconditionally and was always willing to help his family in any way possible.
He is survived by the love of his life, Janell Jones Caylor, and would have celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary on October 8, 2024; son, Jonathan Caylor; Granddaughter Olivia Caylor; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Cecil Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Kathy Caylor all of Dalton, GA; nephews and nieces, Randy Miller, Brian and Tammy Miller, Todd and Kim Miller, Heath and Frances Caylor, Steven Foster, Andy Foster and Greg Hall; great-nephew and great-nephews, Drew and Megan Miller, Mark and Jeannie Miller, Joshua and Lydia Miller, John Mathew Miller, Ryan Miller, Kylie Caylor and Aiden Caylor; great-great-nephews, Grant Miller, Cole Miller, and Reid Miller; aunt, Ruth Turvey of Cisco, GA; sisters-in-law, Belma Foster of Dalton, GA, and Lillian Heard of Locust Grove, GA.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Arnold Lee Caylor will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with his brother, Raymond Caylor, his God son, Mark Hannah and Reverend Billy Willis officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Steve Deal, Gary Smith, Heath Caylor, Todd Miller, David Baggett and Andy Foster honored to serve as pallbearers.
He had the Arnold Caylor CPA firm for 3 decades, from the 1960's until the 1980's. He also partnered in The Fiberglass Shop and Caylor Industrial Sales with his father and brother, among numerous other successful business ventures. He had offices in The Huff House after he had restored it.
Always an adventurer, he traveled from the Arctic Circle to the Tropic of Cancer, usually on a fishing trip. He loved camping, hunting, and scuba diving. He was also an accomplished photographer and underwater videography. Always curious, he had abundant hobbies over the years and was an early adaptor on technology that came along. He resided on a beautiful piece of property with a lush garden on the Conasauga River.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning until the service hour.
