Mrs. Annie Etheline Locke Barnes, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Etheline was born August 20, 1930 in Polk County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late William Joseph and Nettie Magnolia Sheehan Locke. She was also preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Earl Brindle, Essie May and Holland Jones, Dixie and Johnny England, Bessie and Carlton Bradley, Betty and Gordon Staten, Louise Lingerfelt and Herman Neal, brothers and sisters-in-law, France "Beachard" and Beulah Locke, William "Mutt" and Earline Locke, Joseph "Jeff" and Mary Catherine Locke, Richard and Margaret Locke, Winston Locke and David Locke'
Etheline was a 1948 graduate of Dalton High School. She worked many years at Macy's Department Store in Toledo, Ohio, and at Belk's Department Store in Dalton, Georgia. She was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church in Chatsworth, Georgia.
She is survived by the love of her life, Jasper D. "J.D." Barnes of the home, and celebrated their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary, September 4, 2018; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Glenn Brooks of Reliance, TN; grandson, Randall Rybarczyk of Dalton, GA; sister, Sally Neal of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Annie Etheline Barnes will be held Tuesday evening, November 6, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Danny Cochran and Tony Hampton officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning, November 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
