Mrs. Anna Deaver Evans, age 91, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday morning, November 27, 2019 at the Pleasant Valley Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family.
Anna was born November 25, 1928 in Cobb County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Manuel Deaver and Goldie Nell Holtzclaw Deaver. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Vernon Evans.
Anna was a tireless advocate for the elderly and worked many years with the Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center and the Voluntary Action Center. She was community minded and worked with Norman Burkett, State Senator Bill Fincher, State Senator Roger Williams and U.S. Senator Sam Nunn in obtaining county owned Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of Whitfield and surrounding counties. She was also on the steering committee that lobbied the Georgia State Legislature to establish the Whitfield County Medical Access Clinic which provides low cost, high quality medical care.
Anna accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and lived the life of a true Christian. Her life was her family and she was devoted to her mother, husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her life was lived for others.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Kenneth Tate of Cohutta, GA, Deborah and Winfred Bearden of Calhoun, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Beverly Evans of Cohutta, GA, Dewayne and Tina Evans of Rocky Face, GA, and Phillip and Erica Evans of Chickamauga, GA; sister, Ora Chastain of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Kendall and Jennifer Tate, Glenn and Tonja Tate, Britany and John Kersey, Kelly and Jimmy Cardin, Michael and Stephanie Evans, Keith and Pam Evans, Lori and Chris Wiley, Tara and Frank Henley, Jessica and Guy Hall, Andrew and Toni Evans and Greyson Evans; twenty one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special group of caregivers at Pleasant Valley Assisted Living, Brandy Patterson, Jessica Brewer, and Emma Beavers.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Anna Deaver Evans will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Edwin Puckett and her son, Reverend Gary Evans officiating. She will be laid to rest with her mother and husband at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Kendall Tate, Glenn Tate, John Kersey, Michael Evans, Keith Evans and Andrew Evans honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
