Mr. Alton W. Hall, age 80, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed from this life to a better life, Monday afternoon, December 24, 2018 at his home. Alton was born July 24, 1938 in Whitfield County, and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Tilmon and Violet Hall and his mother and step-father, Frances and Charlie Cook, sisters, Ruth Artrip and Brenda Kost, brothers, Kenneth Hall and J.T. Hall and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Sue Todd.
Alton was a 1957 graduate of Dalton High School. Alton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Alton was an auto mechanic by trade and worked for most of the local dealerships prior to opening his own garage in 1980.
Alton was a true American who believed in God, Family and Country. He was a hard working man and cared and loved his family deeply. He enjoyed being outside, camping, fishing and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Todd Hall of the residence, and would have celebrated their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary, June 4, 2019; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Janet Hall of Calhoun, GA, Steve Hall, Scott and Carol Hall of Rocky Face, GA; granddaughter, Whitney Pankey of Calhoun, GA; grandson, Devon Peters of Nashville, TN; great-grandson, who was the light of his life, Rhidyer Pankey of Calhoun, GA; sisters, Beth Rhudy of Calhoun, GA, Phyllis Defore of Chatsworth, GA; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Lynne Hall of Magnolia, TX; special close great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Cowart and her family; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Johnson and Jean Todd of Chatsworth, GA, and Loretta and Charles Knight of Cedartown, GA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Alton W. Hall will be held Saturday morning, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Beach and Reverend Ronald Guffey officiating. Music will be arranged by his very special nieces, Dana Shellhorse of Cedartown, GA, and Karen Barfield of Rockmart, GA. He will be laid to rest at Dunagan Cemetery in Rocky Face, Georgia, with military honors provided by American Legion Post #112 and The Patriot Guard Riders "Standing for Those Who Stood for Us"
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
