Mrs. Alta Hula Henton, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday morning January 27, 2019 at Royal Oaks. Hula was born March 26, 1927 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Lena Findley Cashon. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of fifty-six years, William David "Bill" Henton, brothers and sister-in-law, Randall and Yvonne Cashon, Ray Sheldon Cashon and Clarence "Ed" Cashon, sisters and brothers-in-law, Voulains and Shelton Bennett, Star and Charles Vining, Jr., and Paul Boyd.
Hula was a 1945 graduate of Dalton High School. She worked as a buyer for the children's department at Belk-Gallant and later as the office manager at Telpage. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, 2115 East Morris Street, Dalton, Georgia, 30721.
Hula was a strong willed, independent, and intelligent woman. She was the role model for her two daughters. When she met her husband, Bill, it was city girl meets country boy. She loved Bill until the day she died.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Fred Huggins of Rocky Face, GA, Tracy and Tom Hayes of Tierra Verde, FL; grandson and wife, Matthew and Jessica Huggins of Dalton, GA; sisters, Mary Boyd of Gainesville, GA; very special sister-in-law, Sharon Cashon of Cocoa, FL; special nieces and nephews, very special friends, Steve Carter of Titusville, FL, and Brenda Bell of Dalton, GA; special caregivers, Brenda Patterson, Amanda Sutton, Linda Lunsford, Lisa Stokes, Monica, Angie and Olive.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hula Henton will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Celebration committal pavilion at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mark Amspaugh and Reverend Jeff Bramlett officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 12:00 p.m. noon Saturday, February, 2, 2019 until the service hour.
