Mrs. Alma "Ellen" Gazaway Stephens, age 77, of Chatsworth, GA, passed away on Sunday July 4, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. She was born January 14, 1944 in Dalton, GA, a daughter of the late Otto and Velma Curtis Gazaway. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lamar Gazaway, sister, Martha Sowder, brothers-in-law, Bob Hall and Dave Layton.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harley "HL" Stephens of the residence; children, Harley Stephens of Chatsworth, GA, Irene and Tommy Holland of Dalton, GA, Johnny Bedwell of Resaca, GA; sisters, Genearl Hall of Dalton, GA, Betty Layton of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Joseph and Whitney Holland; great grandchildren, Jaxson, Luke, Corbin; nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Alma "Ellen" Gazaway Stephens will be held Wednesday July 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Michael Gazaway officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
