Aileen was born on February 27, 1946, in Dalton, Georgia, to the late Hudson and Thelma Ridley Morgan. Aileen was the heart and soul of her family—a woman of fierce love, grace, and unwavering strength. She was the glue that bound her family together, always putting others first and offering support, guidance, and care. She knew and accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior in 1984, and her faith was central to everything she did. She took immense joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. Her legacy will live on through them, as she was not only a mother, but a grandmother and great-grandmother to all the children she encountered. To many, she was simply known as "Nanny."
Aileen leaves behind many to honor and cherish her memory including, her daughter, Tammy and Jeff Wardell; grandchildren, Brittney and Omar Maradiaga, Candice and "J.C." Carroll, Courtney and Lester Yarber, and LaTisha Wilson; great-grandchildren, "Zai Zai" Evelyn Gonzalez, Adalynn Schnepper, Brianne Maradiaga, Grayson Maradiaga, Kadence H. Carroll, Nolan Carroll, Eriezel Lowery, Chase Yarber, and Levi Yarber; a brother, Larry and Barbara Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will celebrate Aileen's life with a service at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with her brother Reverend Larry Morgan officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her family at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Omar Maradiaga, "J.C." Carroll, Lester Yarber and Eriezel Lowery. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Saturday, January 25, after 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 2pm.
Aileen's love and dedication to her family were unmatched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her spirit continue to guide and watch over her loved ones as they carry her memory forward.
