Mr. Gene T. Barnette, age 75, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Hutchenson Medical Center . Mr. Barnette was born October 1,1934 in Dalton,GA, a son of the late Samuel Jackson and Jessie Mae Ramsey Barnette. He was also pre deceased by his brothers, John Barnette, Carl Barnette, William Ford Barnette, Willard Barnette and his sister, Irene Davenport. He was An Avid Bee Keeper, and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his sisters and brother in law, Dorothy and Jim Shuler, Tunnel Hill, GA, and Fannie Vinyard, Dalton,GA, a brother, Earl Barnette, Dalton,GA, sisters in law, Syble Barnette and Margie Barnette both of Dalton, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Gene T. Barnette will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 2:00 oclock p.m. at The Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home, with Reverend Steve Gregory officiating. Mr. Barnette will be laid to rest at Poplar Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Hice, William Land, Brad Shuler, Nick Newport, Brandon Vinyard and Ted Williams. The family will receive friends at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Saturday.
