Mr. James Edward "Jimmy" Chitwood (Calhoun)
Mr. James Edward Jimmy Chitwood Sr., age 72, of Sugar Valley, Georgia, departed this life on January 24, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was born April 23, 1937 in Gordon County, Georgia, a son of the late Wilburn Everett and Blanche West Chitwood. Jimmy was a retired Plummer and Electrician and during the past few years he loved to flea market. He proudly served his country in the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Doris Southerland Chitwood of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law Terry and Sandy Nicholson, Dalton, GA, James E. Jim Chitwood, Jr., Calhoun, GA, Jamerson Wade Jamie Chitwood, Sugar Valley, GA, Brian and Alisal Baker, Chattanooga, TN; Daughter, Eugenia Genia Burchett, Sugar Valley, GA; sisters and brothers in law, Betty and Danny Cline, Carol and Stanley Smith both of Calhoun, GA, six Grandchildren; special foster grandson, T.J. Parker; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jimmy Chitwood will be held Tuesday morning, January 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie McBrayer officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Sugar Valley Cemetery. Terry Nicholson, James Edward Chitwood Jr., Jamie Chitwood, Brian Baker, T.J. Parker and Larry Chitwood will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Venders and Friends of The New Town Flea Market.
The family will receive friends at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday.
