Mr. Charles A. Tipton, age 74, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Monday morning, January 18, 2010 at the Gordon Hospital. Charles was born February 13, 1935 in Whitfield County, Georgia, a son of the late Paul and Bonnie Goforth Tipton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Dixon Tipton and a daughter, Juana Tipton. Charles was retired form Texture-Tex where he was a supervisor.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Paul and Angela Tipton of Ringgold, GA, Michael Tipton, Danny Ponders and Mitch Romine all of Dalton, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Kana of Lincoln, Maine, Kathy Haney of Rossville, GA, Chenkie and Wayne Broyles of Calhoun, GA, and Norma Jean Tipton of Florida; brothers, Paul Tipton, John Tipton, Frank Tipton all of Dalton, GA, and Lloyd Gene Tipton of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters, Drusilla James of Tunnel Hill, GA, Oneita Long of Morganton, GA, Lillie Newman of Dalton, GA, and Sandra Bridges of Cohutta, GA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles A. Tipton will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 2:00 oclock p.m. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Reid officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00 oclock p.m. Tuesday at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.
