Mr. Miles Gordon Souther
Today, we say goodbye to our father, grandfather, great-grandfalther, and friend, Mr. Miles Gordon Souther, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 15, 2010. Gordon was born on April 15, 1930 in Murray County. He retired from J&J industries, where he was employed for 28 years. Gordon was a faithful member of Riverbend Baptist Church and was a Deacon since 1969. Mr. Souther enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was an avid gardener. Gordon will be remembered as a faithful Christian, as well as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Mr. Gordon Souther was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years; Eloise Dixon Souther; parents; Harim and Vennie Welch Souther; brothers; Grover Souther and Horace Souther; sisters: Annie McMahan and Viola Carlock.
Gordon is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law; Brenda and Billy Rogers, Debra and Xavier Castro, Joyce Souther, Janice and Bill Strawser; sons and daughters-in-law; Tony and Rhonda Souther and Terry and Sandy Souther; a sister; Nancy Darnell; grandchildren; Keith Stafford, Ryan Stafford, Shean Starks, Meleia Bridenstine, Sanna Gilbreath, Brandon Souther, Zac Souther; Chastity Blanchard, Shannon Brewer, and Jake Souther; great-grandchildren; Tristen Stafford, Chase Stafford, Katelyn Stafford, Drew Harper, Sierra Stafford, Baylee Stafford, Libby Bridenstine, Will Blanchard, Mason Blanchard, Luke Blanchard, Kaylee Owen, Brittany Starks, Sara Starks and Tyler Starks.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Gordon Souther will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Jeremy Brewer officiating; Reverend George Ross and Reverend John Souther will also participate in the funeral service. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Southers grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 9:00PM.
