Mr. William "Billy" Carter (dalton)

Mr. William Euzell Billy Carter, age 68, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday morning, January 8, 2010 at the local hospital. Billy was born March 15, 1941 in Murray County, Georgia, a son of the late Trammell and Rosa Ledford Carter. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Elaine Carter, a son, Timothy Wayne Carter and his brothers, Kenneth Carter and Hubert Pierce. He was employed at Mohawk Industries where he worked as the lead mechanic at the Aladdin Plant. He was known to all of his fellow workers as Cotton. He is survived by his wife, Denise Carter of the residence; son, Phillip Carter; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Chris Quarles; step-children, Chrissy Sosebee and Michael Raby; grandchildren, Emma and Carter Quarles, Matthew, Hunter and Tanner Sosebee and Allen Raby all of Dalton, GA; brother, Ed Carter of Chatsworth, GA; sisters, Betty Ponders of Dalton, GA, Linda Osborne and Myrtle Hayes both of Chatsworth, GA, and Sharon Osborne of Ellijay, GA; several nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. William Billy Carter will be held Monday, January 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Beason and Dr. James Howell officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Spring Place Cemetery with James Hayes, Gene Arnold, Phillip Arnold, Tommy Smith, Tony Barker and Daryn Griffith serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 1:00 p.m. Monday.
