Vera Grace Thomas Voyles, age 70, of Danielsville, Georgia, and formerly of Dalton, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Wednesday evening, January 6, 2010 at the Hamilton Medical Center. Vera was born April 17, 1939 in Cherokee County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Fred Oliver Thomas, Sr. and Bertha Mae Botts Thomas. She was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Oliver Voyles, a sister, Vivian Huffman and brothers, Frank Thomas and Fred Junior Thomas. Vera was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Nicky and Lisa Voyles, Chris and Donna Voyles all of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Brian Clayton of Ellijay, GA, Cathy and Shanon Hayes of Danielsville, GA; father of her children, William Winford Voyles of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, Shasta Voyles, Kandace Voyles, Brandi Voyles, Alleigh Voyles, Taylor Voyles, Will Hayes, Samuel Hayes, Sophia Voyles, Zane Newton and Tanner Newton; sister-in-law, Vivian Thomas of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Vera Voyles will be held Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Clayton, Reverend Shanon Hayes and Reverend Randy Jackson officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Union County, Georgia, with her family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday.
